pure x - surface

there is such a thing as ‘good music” even when your tired and feeling droned. ATTENTION STONER, this is your tune. Dig it deep.. You don’t know what ‘witchhouse’ is? Good, neither do I. Genre, is just a less than informative word which stands for ‘classification.’ No use in remembering that. Just listen

Matta - Release The Freq

I LOVE DEER. I (usually) HATE DUBSTEP. Dubstep to me has always been decent. You can’t argue with me that most dubstep sounds like the rest of dubstep. However, if you throw some fucking deer in there, add some amazing Adobe After effects, and saturate your video just perfectly, then you got me watching. This is the first dubstep video / artist Im posting on here about, and thats for good reason. THE DEER. Reminds, me of living in NJ where deer cross roads more than trannys cross dress clothing. Just watch this ish. Its awesome. Turn up your speakers also. Take some drugs. Call the bitties up and ask em’ to come over. Now its on. Chicken Bone Nowison.

Dom - Living In America

baby!“It’s so sexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxy living in AMERICA.” The world is a rough place these days with all the Occupy jazz hitting the fan here, their, and everywhere. Kids and Grandmothers a ike taking tear gas to the face like its a fake cum shot in a all too common shitty porn series. Well we don’t have to worry about all that nonsense because r4t4t4t is a musik blog, not the huffingtonpost. Today we have… Dom. Dom is a pretty fun band my buddy Andrew has been playing here and their when I come kick it at his place. I don’t really know much about where they’re from or what they do for a living or anything special like that. Just that they have a really poppy sound that seems to take the edge off and make slightly shitty afternoons shift into a different light. If you like em, love em. If you hate it and its too cool for you, hate it hater.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra ffunny ffriends

strange matter in richmond has always been a favorite spot to catch good bands. just the problem with this is… i haven’t been all that much into the bands that have been playing there as of recent. I’m not saying the bands that have played aren’t any good just it either doesnt fit my taste or im too ignorant to know who they are in the first place. Anyways, my bud has been playing this around from time to time and fortunately they are going to play strange matter, richmond, tuesday oct 18th. stoked and see you there.

Generationals - Trust

Here’s another band that I just sort of stumbled on top of. Im every bit stoked about it. the hook from this song was stuck in my head practically the whole time me and some buddies went to 42nd st on the james in richmond va to hang and drink and all that tom follerie. it didn’t help that we all keep humming the tune both outloud and in our heads. Well, I’m tired so I’m not gonna drag on and on. But check this, its cool, i think. The video isn’t anything worth anything but who cares. sometimes_its_just_about_the_music

Harlem - Friendly Ghost

So the other day while relaxing enjoying a bloody mary or two and some beer and some more beer at Strange Matter I had the urge to hear some Harlem. If you don’t know who Harlem is this is probably the most important link you’l click on a musik blog for a good long while. This shit is sex to my ears, auditory orgasm type shit, surf rock babes sexing good looking punks on top of a mountain… a golden mountain. My best friend and ex roommate downloaded these guys off the internet when he first moved into ‘the ship’ (my old stomping grounds). I don’t think he realized just how crazy i’d get about this band from Austin Texas. Unfortunately (I got way off topic), at Smatter while listening to this track, a gentleman came and starting chatting with me about how ‘Harlem’ was no longer a band and that the bassist had quit Harlem and joined forces with himself for a new project (its either a really small world or this man was full of shit). Either way I don’t care and I forget the name of his so called new project (probably because of the drinks). Anyways enjoy the track and smile. I LIVE IN A GRAVEYAAAAAARD

Neon Indian - Polish Girl

Living in Richmond Virginia is pretty fun I guess… but I can’t help but wonder about the future. I can most definitely dig electronix, girls, computers, wires, LED’s, all that jazz. This video really hits the spot with just about everything listed above. Neon Indian is the new wave of new wave, maybe even post new wave (whatever that means). The new album titled Era Extraña is quite excellent. Unfortunately I am getting lazy in regards to the descriptions for this blog. Gotta get some weed, and a job then I’m sure things will get spicy again. Anyways Here’s what last.fm has to say about this posh posh band.

“Neon Indian is a chillwave band from Denton, Texas. The group is the current project of musician Alan Palomo, also known for his work with the band GhostHustler and as the artist Vega. The group has released two albums: “Psychic Chasms” (2009) and “Era Extraña” (2011).

The band began to garner attention in 2009 after several of their songs which had been posted online were favorably reviewed by music blogs and Web sites. On October 13, 2009, the group released its debut LP Psychic Chasms.

Pitchfork Media also listed two tracks from Psychic Chasms in their list of The Top 100 Tracks of 2009. Should Have Taken Acid With You was listed as the year’s 74th top track and Deadbeat Summer noticeably came in at number 13.

Shortly before the release of Psychic Chasms, Palomo said he planned on releasing another album as VEGA.

Palomo is joined on stage with Ronald Gierhart (guitar, vocals), Jason Faries (drums), and Leanne Macomber (keyboard).”

Future Islands - Tin Man

Spring time isn’t always as glorious as It seems. Sure you’ve got everyone struttin around in cut offs and breezy T’s. However, I feel spring has an antsy dark side to it. Spring tends to make people full of themselves, and that makes us want to kill one another (not literally). Anyways, this song is fun to sing when your smiling on the outside and fiery on the inside.

SPRINGTIME RVA, get flossy.

Public Enemy - I can’t do nuttin for ya man

I’m feeling this. Maybe you will too. Out of laziness, I’m going to post these ridiculous lyrics instead of rambling on.

“Runnin’ for your life by the knife
Runnin’ from your wife … yipes
You should’ve stuck with home
Your mind to blow your dome
It was you that chose your due
You built a maze you can’t get through
I tried to help you all I can
Now I can’t do nuttin’ for you man

I can’t do nuttin’ for ya man
You got all these people on your back now
I can’t do nuttin’ for ya man
Flavor flav got problems of his own
I can’t do nuttin’ for you man

Go lean on shells answer man
I can’t do nuttin’ for ya man
You jumped out of the jelly into a jam

Make ya love the wrong instead of right
Not a thief cat burglar through the night
cop told your girl her name was Shirl
About a rooftop crime to steal her pearls
Oozy down the bullets in the gun

Just microwave themselves a ton
The you tried to help them all they can
But they couldn’t do nuttin’ for ya man

I can’t do nuttin’ for ya man
They couldn’t do nuttin’ for ya man

Flavor Flav is the sun
Public Enemy number one
Gotcha runnin’ from the gun (pow)
Of a brain that weighs a ton
Can’t face my facts that’s on the shelf
Cause you want a hand out for your wealth
Eatin’ welfare turkey out of the can
I can’t do nuttin’ for ya man

I can’t do nuttin’ for ya man
You want six dollars for what?
I can’t do nuttin’ for ya man
You better man kiss my but
I can’t do nuttin’ for ya man
I’m busy tryin’ to do for me
I can’t do nuttin’ for ya man
That’s the way the ball bounces gee

Bass for your face, kick that shit”

Miranda _ Only Nightmares

Sure… the future is pretty cool. You have your iphones, your 3d tele’s, your 10 speed polyurethane ribbed dilli for yer lady’s bum. Anyways, tangents aren’t cool in the future so fuck you and your matrix 3d after effects. Here’s a video produced by a friend… Buck. Anyways if you scroll to some of the older stuff I posted you’ll find some more from his stuff. Check out this video though, the old vcr style effects make for an enjoyable sensation-able memorable auditory experience. Oh and by the way Buck, and his project Miranda are from richmond. They are playing a festival in richmond, but I can’t seem to find the link. Oh and here’s a picture of me and buck. So cool, right.

David Byrne & Brian Eno - Strange Overtones

strange overtonesI can’t even begin to describe how much I like this song, I play it at least once every single day to say the absolute least. Check out this Battle Commander for Mikey Taylor from the berrics.

“Avant-rock pioneer Brian Eno and Talking Heads frontman David Byrne collaborated for a groundbreaking album called My Life in the Bush of Ghosts in 1981. They combined found recordings of voices (off the radio and so on) with funky Afrolatin grooves, using the voices more or less as instruments rather than for the content of the words.

Their most recent release, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, is also the first collaboration together in 30 years. You can stream the full album or download an MP3 at EverythingThatHappens.com.”

Surfer Blood - Swim

surfer bloodSo I finally got a chance to see Surfer Blood live in Austin, TX for SXSW. Great tunes to dance to under the influence of friendship and booze. Even more fun when you accidentally stumble on a free show, with free TACO bell, and even some free SPARKS shooters. Well, Anyways I sound like a braggy pre teen so i’ll stop. This song gets me stoked so you should peep the fan made video and see if it does anything for you.

Here’s a lowdown from last.fm. Listen and learn: “Surfer Blood is an indie rock band from West Palm Beach, Florida. Their 2009 debut single “Swim” debuted through Pitchfork Media and gained critical acclaim as it was placed as the 37th best track on Pitchfork’s 100 Best Songs of 2009. Their sound has been compared to Weezer, Pavement, Vampire Weekend and Built to Spill.

The band’s debut album, Astro Coast was released on January 19, 2010 to generally positive reviews.”
